Tasting Notes

Mostly fruity upon opening, this wine opens up to much more over time - a thickly perfumed blend of aromas like black cherry, plum, tar, and rosehip. Crushed granite aromas harken back to the terroir of the Llano Uplift. Dry, mouthwatering, and full-bodied, with a pleasurable tannin structure framed to fit the wine’s elegant style.

The Vintage

Much needed rain and mild temperatures before several weeks of long 100+ degree temperatures. Sugars stalled, but grapes were harvested at ideal pH and acidity levels with great balance.

Winemaking

24-hr cold soak. Fermented in large oak fermenter. Aged 16 months in 25% new French oak barrels.

Food Pairing

Pair with spaghetti veal bolognese

The Vineyard

Our 55 planted acres are within the Hoover’s Valley, which runs through the Llano Uplift formation in the Texas Hill Country AVA.

Situated near the banks of the Colorado River, the alluvial soils along with the significant mineral deposits make this a truly unique growing environment. Uplift itself has four distinct soil types, with each planted variety chosen for its suitability to the ground in which it resides: sand, granite, sandy loam and clay.

Petite Sirah Block F: est. 2015, sandy loam soil, clone 05SM, 05ID, rootstock 1103P

Montepulciano Block G: est. 2016, sandy loam soil, clone VCR 10, rootstock 1103P
