From Claire Richardson, Winemaker

Bursting with character, candied fruit, and aromas of watermelon Jolly Rancher, this wine fulfills all my kidin-a-candy-store dreams. Its New World nose and Old World palate create a dynamic balance that keep you coming back for more.

The Vintage

Much needed rain and mild temperatures before several weeks of long 100+ degree temperatures. Sugars stalled, but grapes were harvested at ideal pH and acidity levels with great balance.

Winemaking

24-hour cold soak. Oak tank fermentation. Aged in 25% new French oak barrels for 6 months.

Food Pairing

Duck confit and rosemary shallot mashed potatoes

The Vineyard

Our 55 planted acres are within the Hoover’s Valley, which runs through the Llano Uplift formation in the Texas Hill Country AVA.

Situated near the banks of the Colorado River, the alluvial soils along with the significant mineral deposits make this a truly unique growing environment. Uplift itself has four distinct soil types, with each planted variety chosen for its suitability to the ground in which it resides: sand, granite, sandy loam and clay.
