From Claire Richardson, Winemaker

Accented by various fermentation and aging vessels, the varieties come to be both fresh and indulgent. The Roussanne rounds the edges to create excellent texture and body.

The Vintage

Much needed rain and mild temperatures before several weeks of long 100+ degree temperatures. Sugars stalled, but grapes were harvested at ideal pH and acidity levels with great balance.

Winemaking

Marsanne fermented in concrete, then aged in 20% concrete/80% neutral French oak barrel. Roussanne aged in 15% new French oak barrel and 85% neutral oak barrel. Partial malolactic conversion.

Food Pairing

Classic fettuccini carbonara or a thick flake fish with citrus beurre blanc

The Vineyard

Our 55 planted acres are within the Hoover’s Valley, which runs through the Llano Uplift formation in the Texas Hill Country AVA.

Situated near the banks of the Colorado River, the alluvial soils along with the significant mineral deposits make this a truly unique growing environment. Uplift itself has four distinct soil types, with each planted variety chosen for its suitability to the ground in which it resides: sand, granite, sandy loam and clay.

Marsanne Block I: est. 2016, sand soil, rootstock 1103P

Roussanne Block C: est. 2013, 2016, 2019, granite soil, rootstock 1103P, 5BB

Elevation: 860 to 880 feet
