From Claire Richardson, Winemaker

This direct press rose of Mourvèdre boasts juicy red fruit, a slice of citrus, and summer florals. Anticipating the hot summer ahead of us, we picked the fruit quite early in order to retain the freshness and acidity that make this wine a vibrant expression of the Mourvèdre grape.

The Vintage

Much needed rain and mild temperatures before several weeks of long 100+ degree temperatures. Sugars stalled, but grapes were harvested at ideal pH and acidity levels with great balance.

Winemaking

6 months in stainless steel tank. Fermented in steel.

Food Pairing

Tuna tataki with yuzu and spring onion

The Vineyard

Our 55 planted acres are within the Hoover’s Valley, which runs through the Llano Uplift formation in the Texas Hill Country AVA.

Situated near the banks of the Colorado River, the alluvial soils along with the significant mineral deposits make this a truly unique growing environment. Uplift itself has four distinct soil types, with each planted variety chosen for its suitability to the ground in which it resides: sand, granite, sandy loam and clay.

Mourvèdre Block A: est. 2015, granite soil, clone BN, rootstock 1103P

Elevation: 1,200 to 1,300 feet
