From Claire Richardson, Winemaker

A one-of-a-kind combination of Italian and Bordeaux varieties from Uplift Vineyard. With Aglianico accented by Montepulciano and Malbec, this wine is elegant, expressive of red and black fruit, and has a rich finish.

The Vintage

One of the driest vintages of the last few decades. About 40% reduced yield, heat that spurred ripening, and rain around harvest time led to an interesting, one-of-a-kind vintage.

Winemaking

48 hour cold soak. Large format oak fermentation. Aged in 10-15% new French oak barrels.

Food Pairing

Salt cured pork with bitter greens, citrus salad and shallot vinaigrette, or a range ofshellfish

The Vineyard

Our 55 planted acres are within the Hoover’s Valley, which runs through the Llano Uplift formation in the Texas Hill Country AVA.

Situated near the banks of the Colorado River, the alluvial soils along with the significant mineral deposits make this a truly unique growing environment. Uplift itself has four distinct soil types, with each planted variety chosen for its suitability to the ground in which it resides: sand, granite, sandy loam and clay.
