From Claire Richardson, Winemaker

This elegant expression of Cabernet Sauvignon shows its many layers of fruit, florals, earth, and minerality. The growing conditions of the 2022 vintage allowed us to draw back the curtains and highlight each variety's character as expressed by the terroir of the Uplift vineyard.

The Vintage

One of the driest vintages of the last few decades. About 40% reduced yield, heat that spurred ripening, and rain around harvest time led to an interesting, one-of-a-kind vintage.

Winemaking

48-hour cold soak. Fermented in large oak fermenter/tank. Aged 18 months in 10% new French oak.

Food Pairing

Pan-roasted rabbit with pomegranate port glaze and herb-roasted potatoes.

The Vineyard

Our 55 planted acres are within the Hoover’s Valley, which runs through the Llano Uplift formation in the Texas Hill Country AVA.

Situated near the banks of the Colorado River, the alluvial soils along with the significant mineral deposits make this a truly unique growing environment. Uplift itself has four distinct soil types, with each planted variety chosen for its suitability to the ground in which it resides: sand, granite, sandy loam and clay.
