From Claire Richardson, Winemaker

Malbec in Texas varies widely, and the expression of this grape at Uplift is noteworthy. With medium tannins, earthiness, and a driving acidity, this wine is so versatile with food. Malbec is always perfect for the holidays.

The Vintage

A mass freeze in February and hail in May reduced quantity significantly, yet a cool summer yielded exceptional quality and balance in the remaining grapes.

Winemaking

Aged in 100% neutral oak barriques for 20 months.

Food Pairing

Red wine braised beef tips with mushroom gravy over polenta.

The Vineyard

Our 55 planted acres are within the Hoover’s Valley, which runs through the Llano Uplift formation in the Texas Hill Country AVA.

Situated near the banks of the Colorado River, the alluvial soils along with the significant mineral deposits make this a truly unique growing environment. Uplift itself has four distinct soil types, with each planted variety chosen for its suitability to the ground in which it resides: sand, granite, sandy loam and clay.
