From Claire Richardson, Winemaker

The 2021 Estate Red allowed us the creative freedom to blend a wine that is representative of our vineyard alone. This wine is equal parts Sangiovese, Malbec, and Petite Sirah. Totally unique to Uplift.

The Vintage

A mass freeze in February and hail in May reduced quantity significantly, yet a cool summer yielded exceptional quality and balance in the remaining grapes.

Winemaking

Aged in 100% neutral oak barriques for 21 months.

Food Pairing

Game bird, tomato-based dishes, and pasta with strong cheeses

The Vineyard

Our 55 planted acres are within the Hoover’s Valley, which runs through the Llano Uplift formation in the Texas Hill Country AVA.

Situated near the banks of the Colorado River, the alluvial soils along with the significant mineral deposits make this a truly unique growing environment. Uplift itself has four distinct soil types, with each planted variety chosen for its suitability to the ground in which it resides: sand, granite, sandy loam and clay.
