From Claire Richardson, Winemaker
This is a perfect wine for a weeknight dinner or any special occasion. I am so excited to release this as our first blend. This is very much a sneak preview of what you can expect from the Bordeaux varieties and blends that will be released from Uplift in the future.
The Vintage
Low yields after a 2019 freeze resulted in highly concentrated, well-balanced fruit.
Winemaking
Aged in neutral oak barrels for 24 months.
Food Pairing
Herb-crusted Lamb or Barbacoa Tacos.
The Vineyard
Situated near the banks of the Colorado River, the alluvial soils along with the significant mineral deposits, make this a truly unique growing environment. Uplift itself has four distinct soil types, with each planted variety chosen for its suitability to the ground in which it resides. Our 55 planted acres are within the Hoover's Valley, which runs through the Llano Uplift formation in the Texas Hill Country AVA.
Malbec Block D: est. 2015, sandy loam & clay soil, clone France Cot 180, rootstock 5BB
