From Claire Richardson, Winemaker

Fresh, seductive, and complex. Crunchy acidity and focused tannins perfectly complement the wine’s vibrant fruit and subtle savoriness.

The Vintage

Much needed rain and mild temperatures before several weeks of long 100+ degree temperatures. Sugars stalled, but grapes were harvested at ideal pH and acidity levels with great balance.

Winemaking

24-hour cold soak. Aged in 15% new French and Hungarian oak barrels for 16 months.

Food Pairing

Classic vitallo tonnato of Piedmont (thinly sliced roasted veal with a savory tuna sauce)

The Vineyard

Our 55 planted acres are within the Hoover’s Valley, which runs through the Llano Uplift formation in the Texas Hill Country AVA.

Situated near the banks of the Colorado River, the alluvial soils along with the significant mineral deposits make this a truly unique growing environment. Uplift itself has four distinct soil types, with each planted variety chosen for its suitability to the ground in which it resides: sand, granite, sandy loam and clay.

Sangiovese Block H: est. 2016, sandy loam soil, clone VCR 06, rootstock 1103P

Elevation: 860 to 880 feet
