From Claire Richardson, Winemaker

Slightly savory, with a gentle warmth and a ton of fresh fruit. This wine continues to be one of my favorites, year after year.

The Vintage

Much needed rain and mild temperatures before several weeks of long 100+ degree temperatures. Sugars stalled, but grapes were harvested at ideal pH and acidity levels with great balance.

Winemaking

24-hour cold soak. Oak fermentation. Aged 16 months in 20% new French oak barrels.

Food Pairing

Pair with pecan crusted pork chop with butter-basted wild mushrooms

The Vineyard

Our 55 planted acres are within the Hoover’s Valley, which runs through the Llano Uplift formation in the Texas Hill Country AVA.

Situated near the banks of the Colorado River, the alluvial soils along with the significant mineral deposits make this a truly unique growing environment. Uplift itself has four distinct soil types, with each planted variety chosen for its suitability to the ground in which it resides: sand, granite, sandy loam and clay.

Montepulciano Block G: est. 2016, sandy loam soil, clone VCR 10, rootstock 1103P

Elevation: 860 to 880 feet
